Dr. Golden has always worked, both within professional organizations and professionally, as an advocate for better patient care. "Dr. Al, the Kiddies' Pal" has been a nickname given to Dr. Golden for over 25 years. Many thousands of patients later... the label still sticks, as many can attest to, even those now grown-up. "I'm lucky enough to have a profession where I can help people and a specialty that I truly love. I get to work with the most tender of patients, many of whom really need specialized help. I do my best to help them receive the optimum in dental care without the trauma that has scared so many of today's adults. It has been a distinct pleasure to see so many of my patients grow up with happy, healthy smiles and the even greater honor of doing the same for their children." Dr. Herschel Jones is a 1976 graduate of the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences. He completed his pediatric dentistry residency program at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1981. After several years as a pediatric dentist with the Army Dental Corps, to include serving as assistant to the director of one of the two Army Pediatric Dentistry Residency Training Programs, he joined Alan H. Golden and Associates in 1995. Dr. Jones is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, Diplomate of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He has also published in the Journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is a member of many professional organizations. Parents readily understand why it is said that, "Dr. Jones absolutely loves being a pediatric dentist." It is evident in the caring attitude and joy by which he interacts with the children. As a father of four, Dr. Jones fully understands both the joys and challenges of parenthood and invites you to come join our dental family to help "Fight decay with Dr. 'J'!" Thomas E. Horton, D.D.S., M.S. Dr. Horton graduated from Georgetown University Dental School in 1982, and received the Award for Exceptional Interest in the Development of the Oro-Facial Complex from the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Horton is a member of several prominent organizations and select study clubs that keep his state-of-the-art practice on top of the latest techniques and technology. He believes that "Early Treatment" ( Phase One) is not a quick preventative resolution to the developing malocclusion. "It's about managing a child's dental facial developments. My patients, their parents, and I agree on the same objective: That the child will enter their teens and later adult years with a healthy, attractive, stable dental facial relationship." Dr. Horton's wife, Dr. Carol Orlando, is a Pediatric Dentist in Bethesda, Maryland. They have one son, Thomas. In his spare time Dr. Horton enjoys playing golf, cooking gourmet meals for his family and friends, and teaching Thomas to play golf and tennis. Dr. Horton truly loves practicing orthodontics. The combination of science, art and technology are right up his alley. When he sees those great looking smiles the day the braces come off it makes all the hard work worthwhile! Dr. Kenneth Guess received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1965. Upon graduation, he entered and served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps for 30 years. United States and overseas. The most notable achievement was the Military
Medical Medal; an award, by military medical colleagues, recognizing him
for sustained clinical knowledge, leadership, and superior clinical skills
throughout his career. Dr Guess has been a member of the Academv of
General Dentistry (AGD) since 1982 and has earned over 700 Continuing
Education (CE) credit hours earning him eligibility for a Fellowship in
that organization. He is also an active member of the local Woodbridge
Dental Study Group and attends numerous professional seminars annually.
Dr. Guess' childhood dentist had been his
inspiration to become a dentist. Because of his own positive
experience as a patient, he made it his goal to always treat his patients
with the same consideration, understanding, and trust. Dr. Guess
states that, "The highest compliment to a dentist is earning the trust of
your patients who feel comfortable in referring family and friends to your
practice. Most of our new patients are personal referrals and my
continued goal is to always deliver gentle and empathetic care to every
patient. Who knows, maybe one of those patients will be influenced
to also become a dentist".
